Fitness Model Program Making Change A Priority

Balancing your health seems like a simple task but ask someone who has been smoking for 30 years how easy it is. He knows he would be better off not smoking. He has quit several times. He has attended seminars, he exercises and he swears he is committed but so far no results.

The reason he has not quit smoking yet or she has not lost the 40 pounds her physician told her to lose is not because either are unwilling to try; it is more about their belief in their ability to change. When we believe in our ability to change our will to change is reinforced. Part of the commitment process is all about willpower, believing in our will and acting upon that belief. That is a powerful experience.

Having willpower indicates you have faith in yourself. You have confidence in your thinking and in your decision to make a change. This is true whether you are committing to a healthy lifestyle or to changing your career.

To help you reach your goal of committing completely take the change in small steps. Make sure you are prepared and have your supplies that will help you. For example, if you want to lose weight and are following a strict diet which measure portions, buy a small scale. If you are going to avoid drinking, rehearse ordering sparkling water and how to respond to a tease. To cut down on spending, cut up a few credit cards. If you want to start a home business rather than spending 2 hours driving daily, talk to other people who have made that change.

Then set a date when you will begin to live this commitment. That will prevent premature action as well as procrastination. No excuses for delay. Schedule whatever preparations are needed before that date.

Tell your friends and family what you are planning. Go public. Some may even support you. It takes courage to go public but if you want to change you are going to be able to act in the face of fear.

Write down your plan of action.

You have probably studied and read everything there is to know about how to quit smoking, how to lose weight, or how to make money on the Internet. Put that information to good use. The plan you create is the one that will get you motivated to make the change. Your plan may be long or short but it must be specific. For example, if exercise is part of your plan, make sure time for exercise is inserted in your daily schedule. If your goal is to start a new business or change the direction of your current business, write out a business plan.

Attend a stop smoking program at a hospital or a weight loss program. Read more about why you need to make the changes because of the risks to your health. Find out what the successful people in your line of work are doing on the Internet and use their ideas for yourself.

If you are not happy about where you are in life then you have the choice to stay where you are and continue to be miserable or to change. Keep telling yourself I can choose to change or not.
